Scottish Water has gone out to tender with a contract worth between £8m to £11m to build a new water treatment works at Tullich near Oban in north west Scotland.
The contract covers the design, supply, installation, testing and commission of a new Water Treatment Works (WTW) located on a greenfield site close to the existing Tullich WTW with an 11.8Ml/day design output. The new works will incorporate dissolve air flotation and rapid gravity filtration stages, and an additional secondary filtration stage for the removal of manganese and includes:
- New WTW building to contain all plant and equipment
- New sludge treatment building to contain all plant and equipment
- Inlet screens (micro-strainers)
- Raw water transfer pumping station
- Treated water transfer pumping station
- Waste transfer pumping station
- Sludge treatment plant (thickening and pressing)
- Chemical dosing systems
- Water quality monitoring systems
- All interconnecting pipework to/from the new/existing WTW
- New site power supply and transformer station
- All instrumentation, control, automation and telemetry equipment and associated software
The successful contractor will also be required to decommission and demolish the existing WTW building.
